Review:
This story centres around a reporter of a morning TV show and the kidnap of one of her children. In typical Overington style the reader finds their heart strings and emotions being tugged at. Throughout the course of the story we see how corporate politics drives the simplest of things so that people can get what they want when they want, especially if you’re wanting to advance the corporate ladder.
Overington draws you into a believable story and takes you on an intriguing journey which, just when you think you have figured it out, you’re hit with a twist. However, when I discovered the twist I was beyond annoyed. The kidnapper was the least likely one in my opinion mainly due to the relationship that this person had to the child. Even worse was discovering who helped perpetuate the plan in the first place. The sole motivation for the kidnapping appeared to be solely to gain publicity and in the process not only managed to get off with not having to pay any consequences but they were also promoted to a lucrative job deal!
Overall it was an easy read in that the writing wasn’t difficult to understand and follow. It flowed smoothly and easily, however, at spots the story did drag a little and as can be gathered from my previous paragraph I was not a fan of the ending. It left me feeling very angry!
