Review
I was attracted to this book as I thought it would be helpful for my son. I found the information contained within this little book on the whole was valuable and could easily be incorporated into the diet because it encouraged using what you already would have readily available to you. For example, foods that were mentioned included eggs, certain fresh fruit and vegetables (broccoli, and blueberries as one example). The chapters weren’t lengthy but were filled with valuable advice. In spite of all this good, and useful information the book I have was badly let down by the lack of editing.
I encountered things like words missing where there should have been a word. An example of this was located in before the book got started in the disclaimer. The author was explaining his use of the letter “T” instead of the word testosterone (doesn’t give the reader a sense that this is a serious book when you shorten such words in this way. It just says that the author was being lazy!). Smith said: “Note: I may throughout the book refer testosterone as ‘T’”. There is a “to” missing before the word “testosterone” which doesn’t leave the reader feeling that due care and attention has been taken with this book before it’s publication. In addition to this there was also a significant grammar faux pas. The author used the singular verb for a plural verb. In other words the verb and its subject didn’t agree in number, which really grated. It was because of the above that I felt I could only give it 2 stars. The only thing that saved it from getting one star was that I could see how the content could be useful and potentially life-changing for men who have hormone issues. Having said that it is also important that this book’s content should be discussed with a qualified medical professional.
